My initial reaction, I was stunned and terrified! I knew whatNecrosis was but had no idea about the how or why! I knew nothingabout what to do or what an eventual outcome might be. My 1st OS was a nightmare. I was literally on my own, NWB [ non-weight bearing]and in horrible pain for 6 wks. until I found an OS that knew anything about AVN.
I had to learn as much as I could as fast as I could for my ownrelief! That's when I researched AVN-ON online and found thiswonderful group! It's funny how all the things I found online after 2days of constant research were all in your site, very systematicallylisted and so easy to review!
I knew I had found the right place! I read the info and messagesfor a few days then when I felt comfortable I jumped in andintroduced myself. I was welcomed with such loving, warm open armsthat I have been a member since September 2006.
I was DX with Idiopathic ON right knee, SPONK, then left knee, thenleft foot and ankle and no doubt both shoulders. This group has taught me that we can all survive this disease, thatlife goes on and we can live our best lives with what we have, andthat's each other and lots and lots of knowledge! There are as manydifferent ways to treat AVN as there are different folks who have it.
I have learned that none of us asked for this disease but that we cancome here for respite, encouragement and just for hugs when we need them.No one else Knows what we are living thru but us! That has made all the difference in my feelings and outlook.
And certainly not a small thing, You Marie, our fearless andtireless Leaders, Karen and Chappie are the answers to Many prayers!
You lead with your hearts, your knowledge and such compassion that we all need every day.
I am forever grateful to you all.Hugs and appreciation,
Mary
